I grow up in a house where there was no bible (actually I think my dad would have thrown it away if someone brought one *g*) and I also wasn't christened. We had those presents thing as well but always on the New Year's Eve at midnight. We just changed it when we moved to Switzerland and my brother and I got too old to stay at home for the New Year's Eve *g*.
Do you really celebrate Christmass? I mean does it really have an meaning for you? Don't get me wrong.. I'm just surprised how many people there are wishing eachother a marry christmass but then again basically don't have nothing to do with it either. Same with Easter.. I'm starting to get the feeling that those holidays are in certain situations just a good reason to start talking to someone with whom actually you don't have anything to talk about. I'm really starting to get annoyed by the people who usually don't give a fuck about you and then suddently they're all nice to you and asking what you'll do. And when you get back to work they will be asking how you spent the New Year's Eve. If you're honest they will just be totally shocked (again). When I came back from Finland this girl at the university came to me asking "How were your holidays?". I had the opportunity of beeing honest ("I was two weeks with this one band in Lahti visiting gigs and festivals, drinking every evening and then went to Helsinki to this black/humppa band to Helsinki, visited gigs and festivals and got drunk") and again be the total freak or just keep them distanced again. So my answer was "It was nice" and then a long silence came.. *gg*
Usually for such holidays I wish the people a few nice days off. But this year, I cannot even wish that since (at least in Switzerland) the most people are not getting any days off this year (since holidays are on Saturday/Sunday).

So: I wish you a nice weekend!! Get some good sleep and enjoy that everyone are nice to you even if they usually hate you. I hope you'll have a nice time with some people near to you and that you won't get any fights with your family or at least won't be the black sheep. Enjoy the good meal and the free drinks

I don't know how to consider those holidays .....as i'm still studying for me it doesn't matter if it's holidays, christian holiday or national holiday.....only saturday'll be my "day off".....but i guess that after eating a lot.....i'll turn the afternoon in internet and i'll not study cos everysaturday is my "dayoff" and i don't study at all usaully that day......as allways i'll not recieve presents nor give but i someways i'd like recieve and send something Confused .....maybe cos i remember how happy i was when i was child, when under the tree there were presents or when with my mother i was building the decoration.......
About the religious meaning of X-mass,i am confused and the only thing i can assure is that i'll not go to the church also that x-mass
