In my opinion (which isn't much) I think it's easier for us finns to see suffering as a much deeper option to happiness. It's because we happen to live one of most depressing of countries in the world and therefore we have had much time to "examine" the darker side of life. When it comes to joy I tend to think it's just a brief and simple moment of happiness. And when it comes to suffering my views of it get really deep and then I usually become so very sullen and bitter.... Although I seem to draw some sinister and deformed way of happiness from my misery...
If I'd live in diffrent country my view of things could be diffrent, but the way things stand now...well it doesn't give much growth for positive thinking... therefore... um... you know...

i think that both feelings are too strong to really decide which one is *deeper*...
but afterwards i always remember the happiness as a much stronger feeling than sadness...
happiness stays longer and that's good

suffering, cause happiness can go away in a sec for me and I can feel bad for much longer
